Abstract
On June 20, 2001, Andrea Yates took the lives of her five children by drowning them, one by one, in a bathtub. Lazy galaxy: rebel story mac os. Casino apps that pay real cash. Despite very credible evidence that she had long suffered from serious mental disorder, a Texas jury convicted Yates of murder and sentenced her to life in prison. Her tragic and controversial case led many to question whether the so-called 'M'Naghten' test for insanity, which forms the basis for the insanity defense in Texas, adequately defines the exculpatory effect of mental disorder. This article is based on a talk given at a conference entitled 'The Affirmative Defense of Insanity in Texas,' which took place in the wake of the Yates trial.

Abstract
The insanity plea has always been a controversial topic among anyone. No one sees eye to eye on the matter. This can present a problem within professional fields. When insanity cases are brought into courtrooms, legal and psychology professionals need to be able to agree to some extent. However, these professionals have no true control on how jurors define insanity. Jurors tend to determine guilty or not guilty in insanity cases, based on their own personal views. The current study is a replication of Doctor John Geiger's 2003 and 2008 study of how legal professionals and undergraduate psychology students view the seven different definitions of insanity.
